Meydenbauer Center Mission Statement

"Our commitment is to provide an outstanding event and performing arts center that generates community and employee pride, creates economic stimulation, and provides exceptional guest satisfaction." 

The Theatre at Meydenbauer Center is a fully equipped rental house that is staffed by trained theatre professionals to serve all ranges of theatrical and commercial events. Unlike most "road houses," The Theatre at Meydenbauer Center offers some of its equipment at no additional charge. Other services, however, carry additional costs for set up and strike time and consumable materials.

This users' guide is available to introduce you to the theatre space and its operational guidelines. Please take the time to read the entire guide carefully as it constitutes a valid part of your contractual agreement. Although this information is updated frequently, Meydenbauer Center reserves the right to deviate from the contents herein when necessary for system or equipment upgrades, safety, or just cause. How to Find Us
Meydenbauer Center is located at 11100 NE 6th St. Bellevue WA 98004. The main entrance to The Theatre at Meydenbauer Center is at ground level on the southwest corner of the facility. Approaching Bellevue from either direction on interstate 405, exit at NE 4th street. Turn west onto NE 4th, then turn right at 112th Ave., then left onto NE 6th street. The entrance to the Meydenbauer Center parking garage is on the south side of the facility, (on your right). The garage offers about 400 spaces that are shared between the Convention Center and The Theatre at Meydenbauer Center. Elevators serve all levels of the facility. The Theatre foyer and inner lobby area is on Level 2. The loading area for the theatre stage is on the north west corner of the building.

Services and Systems Briefs
Prices in effect as of January 1, 2008

Seating: 410 numbered seats (total room occupancy), including up to 8 ADA accessible wheelchair locations. Four aisles, each with two-door vestibule to lobby.

Box Office: Two-window ticket booth with telephone and backstage intercom. Privacy curtains. The Theatre at Meydenbauer does not provide Box Office personnel. Brown Paper Tickets is the contracted Box Office vendor for Meydenbauer Center. For more information go to www.brownpapertickets.com or call 800-838-3006.

House Manager: Clients should provide their own house manager and ushers. The theatre at Meydenbauer Center will provide one (1) Audience Services Coordinator (ASC) to assist your front of house personnel. You will be billed $18.00 per hour with a 4-hour minimum. The ASC is mandatory when the public is in the Theatre.

Technical Staff: One staff person is provided by The Theatre at Meydenbauer Center for up to two (2) consecutive hours each day to supervise load in/out and facilitate the use of in-house technical equipment at no charge, for first and second booking priority clients. Upon the 3rd hour the Stage Supervisor is billed at $30.00 per hour. Third booking priority clients shall be charged $30.00 per hour commencing with the agreed upon access time into the theatre. The supervisor for your event is not available for artistic design, load in/out or running crew for your event. Dedicated theatre technicians are available for your crew needs at the rate of $25.00 per hour, per person, 4-hour minimum. You may provide your own qualified technical staff to run the sound and lighting systems. Your crew must be authorized by the Stage Supervisor before your show loads into the theatre. With regards to safety, the Stage Supervisor reserves the right to dictate if the crew you provide is qualified to run the technical systems regardless of their experience. Please note that upon entering the 9th hour during a day all staff will be billed at time and a-half.

Stage

Proscenium: 40’ wide by 20’ high opening; 34’ stage depth; 14’ apron D.S. of Plaster line; +15’ wings; separate crossover backstage; sprung wood stage deck; masonite surface. Roscoe brand vinyl dance floor available for an additional charge.

Pit: Suitable for up to 24 musicians. The Stage Supervisor and theatre personnel reserve the right to limit the instrument and performer capacity as well as dictate the custom configuration of the orchestra pit in interest of safety.

Flys and Drapes: 50’ high grid with 32 total line sets arranged on 9" centers, (some empty slots). Grand drape and valance, midstage and upstage travelers, 5 black leg sets 4 black borders; white cyc; black scrim; and 10 to 12 empty battens available for scenic use; 10’x 20’ framed front projection screen.

Orchestra Shell: Wenger portable shell with ceiling, for up to 70 musicians; 50 music stands and lights.

Misc. Electrical: 200 amp three phase and a 100 amp (Appleton) three phase. Located stage right. Non-dim circuits: 1 down stage left; 1 down stage right; 1 up stage.

Dressing Rooms: Divisible chorus room for up to 24 performers, with mirror wall and adjustable height barre; 2 triple dressing rooms; 2 star dressing rooms; green room; secured prop area; secure orchestra case/coat storage area.

Lighting: 177 2.4kw available, dimmer-per-circuit system; ETC Ion, 2x20 Fader Wing, Touchscreen display, Wireless remote; 3 FOH catwalks; 4 box booms; 4 wired electric’s onstage; 276 lighting instruments. Two 2K follow spots. Upper control room for follow spots and/or camera set up. Sound: The Theatre at the Meydenbauer Center supports a full array of frontline sound gear from microphones to monitors and house-fill speakers. For a more in-depth listing see our Sound Inventory.

Loading: Alley loading at ground level into a 30’x20’ transition area, some carts and dollies available.

Parking: Parking at Meydenbauer Center is in an underground pay parking facility that operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Depending on event activitiy, a flat rate may be charged upon entry or upon exiting, either a flat rate or an hourly rate. NO LONG TERM TRUCK or TRAILER PARKING ON SITE. Parking Rates

Safety
As in any situation, common sense and prudence go a long way in theatre safety. Unfortunately, accidents do happen. The following is intended to be a guideline for a safe working and performance environment.

Telephones are located in various locations around the theatre. Dial "9" to get an outside line. (i.e. - 9 – 911). It is not possible to call long distance from these phones without your own personal access card. Phones are available: in the green room, chorus dressing room, and in the lower control booth. The Technical Office and Theatre Manager’s office phones are for 911 emergencies only. Pay phones are located in the outer theatre lobby on level two (2nd floor) of Meydenbauer Center for personal use.

First Aid kits are located in the theatre for your use. Misuse will not be tolerated. You may be charged for any supplies deemed wasted. We strongly encourage you to provide your own safety equipment and first aid supplies. Meydenbauer Theatre does not provide ice or ice packs for your dancers for non-emergencies.

No bare feet or open-toed shoes will be permitted on the stage or in technical areas. The only exception to this rule will be the show wardrobe.

There is no running allowed in the theatre backstage or wing areas.

An adult must accompany performers under 14 years of age when they are not onstage. It is recommended that one adult be responsible for no more than 8 – 10 young people.

House Rules
Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building.

No eating or drinking in the auditorium, onstage or in the control rooms. Water on stage is permitted only in designated safe areas, (determined by Meydenbauer Center Stage Crew). Food and beverage props are permitted on set for production purposes, under the supervision of your property master. You are responsible for all damages and cleaning due to the violation of this rule. Keep all yellow zones and yellow surfaces clear.
All "EXIT" doors shall be properly accessible for emergency exits. Do not block the backstage cross over (gray floor in the loading area).

Food and beverages brought in from outside sources are not allowed for concessions, receptions, or audience without permission from Meydenbauer Center Food and Beverage Department.

Do not tape, staple, pin or otherwise attach anything to a painted wall, surface, or door. You will be charged for any and all damage resulting from a violation of this rule. Mounted corkboards and dry erase boards are provided for your use.

Use approved low tack spike tape on the stage and in the rehearsal room. Remove all tape completely after your event. Only professional grade painter’s tape (blue), gaff / spike tape, electrical tape, and glow tape are allowed in the theatre.

ABSOLUTELY NO DUCT TAPE & NO MASKING TAPE ALLOWED.

Only certified staff and clients are allowed to operate theatre technical equipment. NO EXCEPTIONS

No running unless it is part of the production, no jumping in elevator, no jumping or climbing from stage to house/vice versa. Use the steps. Horseplay is prohibited.

Musicians or crew only in orchestra pit. Crew only and approved visitors allowed in control booths and technical rooms.

No nails or screws into any Meydenbauer surface. ABSOLUTELY NO "DRY WALL" SCREWS ALLOWED.

Meydenbauer Theatre wardrobe equipment is to be used by your certified dresser(s) only. (Washer, dryer, irons).

Dressing room and green room furniture is not to be removed from its location, or to be used as props. NO EXCEPTIONS. Do not take any furniture outside of the facility. Music stands are to be issued by stage crew, and not to be removed from the stage. They are not to be used for anything but the display of music or scripts.

Strike List
Onstage and Control Booths
  • Pull all hanging goods to working height or to grid for house drapery.
  • Pull all production spike flags; (do not pull MC flags.)
  • Roll vinyl floor (if laid down, pull all spike tape.)
  • Strike all props and ground scenery to loading area as soon as possible.
  • Begin restore of FOH rep light plot.
  • Begin restore of Rep Sound set up. (Zero out console as well)
  • Strike all Telex systems, (unless otherwise instructed)
  • Strike hanging scenery, (begin DS and work to US)
  • Restore house drapery plot, (if changed).
  • Restore Onstage Rep light plot. (Begin DS and work to US.)
  • Stack all chairs; folding tables to cart.
  • Music stands to storage, (if used unless otherwise instructed.)
  • Sweep and Mop.


  • Backstage and Dressing Rooms
  • Pull all costumes and related goods.
  • Wipe off all counters and mirrors.
  • Sweep floors if needed.
  • Mop wet floors where needed.
  • Wipe down Washer and Dryer.


  • NOTE: Remove everything that belongs to you. Meydenbauer Center will not guarantee storage and/or security of items left behind without specific written arrangements prior to load in.

     
    Theatre At Meydenbauer Rentals
    Rental Rate Schedule

    a. All Not-For-Profit Performing Arts Groups in booking priority 1-2 (those who are sponsored by or are incorporated as a 501©(3) tax status as recognized by the IRS) will pay the following special rate:
    • $725 per event day and/or for any Friday, Saturday or Sunday scheduled. The exception would be a $375 rental rate for a move-in/rehearsal Friday provided the client produces a minimum of two (2) performances during the course of their rental. Front of house staff is mandatory for all performances and will be billed at the currently applicable hourly rate with a 4-hour minimum.
    • $375 per move-in/rehearsal day/move-out. Rate applies only on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday scheduled.
    • All Thursdays are considered billable days. The client will be charged either the performance or rehearsal rate.
    b. Booking Priority "As Received" Groups will pay the following rate:
    • $775 per event day and/or for any Friday, Saturday or Sunday scheduled. Front of house staff is mandatory for all performances and will be billed at the currently applicable hourly rate with a four (4) minimum.
    • $375 per move-in/rehearsal day/move-out. Rate applies only on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday scheduled.
    • All Thursdays are considered billable days. The client will be charged either the performance or rehearsal rate.
    c. Commercial clients using the theatre will be charged the Meydenbauer Center rental rate for the Theatre. Please contact the sales department at 425-450-3722 or sales@meydenbauer.com for rates.

    Rent Includes:
    • Theatre rental will include all Meydenbauer Center affixed and portable sound (including two (2) pianos), lighting equipment, and access to remote box office, green room, dressing rooms and wardrobe.
    • A Stage Supervisor is provided by The Theatre at Meydenbauer Center for up to two (2) continuous hours at no charge each day for first and second booking priority clients. After two (2) hours the Stage Supervisor will be billed at $30.00 per hour. Third booking priority clients shall be charged $30.00 per hour commencing with the agreed upon access time into the theatre. Presence of the Stage Supervisor is required for all technical systems operations; in-house A/V, lighting/sound, rigging, and communications. The Stage Supervisor is qualified to operate all technical systems in the theatre but is not available for artistic design, load in/out or running crew for your event. Complicated productions may require additional technical staff. Labor charges of $25.00 per hour per person with a four (4) hour minimum would apply.
    • All Stage Supervision and Stage Labor will be charged at time and a half upon commencement of the 9th hour of the rental day.
    • Use of the stage equipment; lighting orchestra shell, chairs & stands, sound system, standard corded microphones, cassette, CD, mini-disk, rigging system, drapes, cyclorama, black scrim. All equipment use must be specified in advance during your production meeting. The Stage Supervisor must be onsite during user access.
    • Normal janitorial service daily; except stage, loading dock and green room.
    • Heating or air conditioning.
    Rent Does Not Include:
    • Stage prepared with orchestra shell or pit configured. For ‘second booking’ events, some preparation may take place during user contracted hours.
    • Labor for crew duties; lighting/sound, or rigging operators, stage manager, designers, dance floor installation. The Stage Supervisor is not available as event stage crew.
    • Daily cleaning of stage, loading dock, or green room.
    • Scenery, costumes, props, gaffers tape, spike tape, tie line, gel, recording tape, flying or rigging hardware, batteries, make-up removal tissue, laundry soap.
    • A/V equipment,; overhead, slide, VCR’s, TV’s, cameras, etc.
    • Users may provide qualified technicians who are allowed to operate the technical systems after the qualifications are verified and the person is oriented to the rules and procedures involved.
    • Users must provide any and all necessary crew personnel or incur additional charges if Meydenbauer Center provides the necessary crew. Meydenbauer Center reserves the right to specify when additional crew are required or in-house production services may be drastically modified.
    • If the piano is needed for a performance and requires tuning at the request of the client. Then the client will charged $80.00 for this service.

    Insurance

    Meydenbauer Center does not hold insurance on the personal property of its users and is not liable for loss, theft or damage to property belonging to the user or its attendees.

    You must provide adequate insurance coverage for your event as outlined in the License Agreement including general liability, product and operations liability, personal injury liability, and workman's compensation. Licensee shall provide proof of coverage in the amounts of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000) of Combined Single Limit, Commercial General Liability coverage to include; Comprehensive Form, Premises/Operations, Contractual Broad Form Property Damage and Products/Completed Operations. The term of the coverage should coincide with the dates of occupancy, including move-in and move-out.

    Meydenbauer Center and the City of Bellevue should be listed as additional insured.

    Organizations that are self-insured must also supply appropriate documentation in the form of a certificate of insurance.

    The certificate shall be furnished sixty (60) days before the first day of the event and may not be cancelled without thirty (30) days advance written notice to Meydenbauer Center.

    If you do not currently have insurance coverage you may purchase insurance for this special event through K&K Insurance.     Theatre Restoration
    It is the responsibility of the client to restore the Theatre, backstage area, green room and dressing rooms to a reasonable state before vacating the premises. Should Meydenbauer staff be required to undertake unusual time and effort to clean and restore the facility then the client will be billed at $25.00 per hour for this necessary service.

    Ticketing
