Kirill Safonov in the play “Return Ticket”
A major premiere in Seattle: on March 13, Kirill Safonov will perform in the play “Return Ticket”, which blends the brightest elements of comedy and drama. The virtuosity of his acting and his candidness captivate the audience throughout the performance.
The name of the charismatic theater and film actor Kirill Safonov is well-known to theatergoers. Once a star of the Mayakovsky Theater and Sovremennik Theater, and now a member of the Gesher Theater (Israel), he has toured half the world. Films and TV series featuring him are watched and loved worldwide. “Tatyana’s Day”, “A Brief Course in a Happy Life”, “The Smile of the Mockingbird”, “These Eyes Opposite”, “Others”—these are just a few of the well-known films in which the actor played leading roles.
Kirill Safonov is 50! The play “Return Ticket”, dedicated to this milestone, was presented last year in Israel and has already been successfully shown in many countries.
“Very soulful, emotional, relevant, and honest.” “A breath of fresh air in our anxious times.” “Makes you think, feel, and empathize.” “An hour and a half of delight!” These are the reviews from the audience members who have already seen the performance.
We are all accustomed to seeing Kirill Safonov in the role of a dramatic actor. The genre of the play “Return Ticket” is therefore particularly interesting and unusual. The actor himself defines it as a “Stendhal”—an original mix of a monologue performance with the actor’s beloved poetry by great poets, excerpts from literary works, witty memories of bright, dramatic, and sometimes even absurd events in his life, and… stand-up comedy. “Why stand-up, and why me, you might ask? Simply because we live in a time when humor is the only tool preventing us from losing our minds. Many think my story is that of a lucky person, but when I told my stories to my therapist, he cried. And I really don’t want to upset you,” jokes Kirill Safonov about the format of the upcoming event.
“So much has changed, so many priorities have shifted. But no matter what happens, we must remember that despair is a terrible sin. We will manage,” adds Kirill.
The stand-up play “Return Ticket” is a light conversation about serious matters. And conversely, it is a serious conversation about frivolous things…
On March 13, Kirill Safonov will perform in “Return Ticket” in Seattle. Tickets: www.teratickets.com
